FAQ

Appointment times

I offer appointments during the week, both days and evenings.

Fees

For individuals, I charge a standard rate of $125 ($110.62 + $14.38 hst) per session. Individual sessions are 60 minutes in length. Individual session times longer than 60 minutes can be arranged. For couples, fees are $165 ($146.02 + $18.98 hst) per 75 minute session. Payment is by cash, cheque, E-transfer or Paypal. Receipts are provided with each payment. About 20% of my practice is reserved for psychotherapy clients that cannot afford full fees. Clients are considered on a first-come basis depending upon availability of space within this portion of my practice.

OHIP/Insurance Benefits

The services of a psychotherapist are not covered by OHIP. Some insurance companies do cover Psychotherapy under Extended Benefits or within a Health Care Spending Account. You should check with your insurance provider to confirm that they cover psychotherapy services provided by a psychotherapist.

Frequency

Generally, I meet with clients once or sometimes twice a week. Therapies can be short-term (lasting weeks/months)or longer-term (months/years).

Confidentiality

Our work together is completely confidential. As a Member of CAPT, (Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy) I abide by a professional code of ethics. For more information please visit www.psychodynamiccanada.org. My registration with the CRPO (College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario) also requires my adherence to very strict practice guidelines. www.crpo.com

Cancellation Policy

Please give at least 24 hours notice for cancellation of sessions. Cancellation within 24 hours results in session fees being charged. Consideration will be given for illness and severe weather.

Referrals

Clients sometimes ask if I can also work with close friends or family. If the relationship is too close to someone I am currently working with in my practice, I will offer referrals to other registered psychotherapists. Referrals are also given when other therapies or wellness modalities are under consideration and actively inquired about by the client. Occasionally, when addiction or other indicators are present, certain treatments will be suggested that may need to be in conjunction with or prior to psychotherapy.

Introductory Session

I understand the importance of finding a 'good fit' in a therapist. I offer a 60 minute introductory session for both couples and individuals at no-charge so that you can meet with me in person to decide if I am the right therapist for you.
